      shore fishing or canoe with anchor at the inflow pumping station northwest side of dam. when water is coming in. happens daily. large chunks of sucker meat out ...more as far as u can around the whirlpool leave the bail open and let it run until it stops then set the hook. they have 30 pound ers in there.

      forebay is my go to lake when people want trout to eat. you can't help but catch your limit using lures or powerbair. I've never been skunked at this lake. ...more lots of snake river cutthroat.

During the morning, shore anglers landed several rainbow trout on pink PowerBait at both the northern and southern sections of the lake. ...more Fly fisherman did not experience the same success at catching trout as the bait anglers did. Out of the four surveyed fly fisherman, none of them reported catching multiple trout on a fly. Under overcast condition, trout favored golden Kastmasters near the outlet of the reservoir. During the morning, a few anglers landed rainbow trout on worms and PowerBait near ...more the northern part of the reservoir. The outlet of the reservoir was less productive when compared to the catch rate of the northern part of the reservoir. Anglers fishing near the outlet of the reservoir normally experience tremendous success on either Gulp salmon eggs, pink PowerBait, or worms. Midday water surface temperatures were in the low 60s. Bait anglers caught rainbow ...more trout and cutthroat trout on either rainbow power bait or worms at the southern part of the reservoir. The sizes of the landed rainbow trout and cutthroat trout ranged from 8 to 14 inches. During the morning, boat anglers landed several 15 inch lake trout near the inlet of the reservoir. During the morning, ...more shore anglers who engaged in active fishing caught several trout on daredevils and panther martins. Bait anglers may want to consider employing either worms or pink PoweBait at the southern part of the reservoir. Anglers generally caught 10 to 14 inch rainbow trout with an occasional cutthroat trout and lake trout being landed. Evening water surface temperatures were in the high 50s. Anglers fishing the southern part of the reservoir in the morning reported great success catching rainbow ...more trout on worms and pink PowerBait. However, trout activity tapered off by the afternoon with more anglers not landing a single fish. Float tube anglers caught lake trout on jigs coupled with sucker meat during the morning.   8. Fishing conditions at Mt. Elbert Forebay have been very good. A majority of the anglers reported catching multiple fish with very few anglers not landing any fish ...more at all. Shore anglers employing bait may want to consider using worms, pink PowerBait and magnum floating power eggs. Trout were consistently taking these baits at both the northern and southern parts of the reservoir. Shore anglers engaging in active fishing reported trout taking Panther Martins and Kastmasters at the southern part of the reservoir. Anglers caught mostly cutthroat trout and rainbow trout between 8 and 12 inches. Midday water surface temperatures were in the low 50s.
