Biggest one of the day was this really dark 19" smallie.Saw him cruising near some rip-rap,took the grub as soon as it hit the water.Most smallies were caught ...more in about 3 to 6 FOW near grass patches and long shallow gravel flats.

Lots of smallies on beds and some chasing minnows and eating crawdads.Casting out to the main current and then dragging the fluke along a gravel flat caught this ...more chunky 15".Missed a lot of other fish to.

Trophy Smallie on the South Fork.Drifted tubes along some hard bottom and grass patches in 10 to 5 FOW.Found a school of them and this was the biggest one I got ...more of it.Also had a 4" Crawdad down its throat.Might be my new PB. 21"~4.2lbs

Chunky 17" smallie hit the swimbait on fall.Just slowly retrieving the swimbait through the current.Tried out rattletraps,jerkbaits and craws with no luck,so ...more I just stayed with the swimbait.Caught 6 more between 13"-17".Good day to be on the river.

Caught this nice largemouth this morning in the Holston off the kayak. He was hiding under a stump. Beautiful day caught 5 or 6 smallmouth too.

This was the best fish yesterday fishing the Holston. Chunky guy ! caught 10 or more smallmouth!
Much of the reservoir is in Tennessee so be mindful that you must stay on the Virginia side if you only have a Virginia fishing license and the opposite goes for Tennessee fishermen.
Species include; largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, northern pike, musky and catfish.
Both the smallmouth and trout have been stocked. Smallmouth populations appear to be in good shape and should provide ample fishing opportunity.
Part of Clinch Mountain Wildlife Management Area, Big Tumbling Creek is a fee trout fishing area. Permits must be purchased to take advantage of the great trout fishing.
