Details: Perch with a jig
A cold, very clear and deep lake that's difficult to fish on sunny days. Look for low-light conditions or a slight chop on the water for best results. Great perch, Walleye and muskie. Also pike, Smallmouth Bass, smelt, Bluegills and Brown Trout.

Fence Lake is on fire right now. A little known secret is the Mayfly hatch which has just begun. Many Walleyes on smaller lakes shut down during a hatch, on ...more Fence it can be one of the best weeks of the year. Last nights guide trip netted 13 Walleyes and lost six in two hours. Use Jumbo Leeches in 14 to 20 feet of water over weeds or small mud flats. These imitate Mayfly larvae coming off the bottom on the way to the surface where they pop their wings and fly away. Fish the leeches on a slip bobber 1 foot off the bottom for best results. Pat Captain Hooks
A premier smallmouth lake from mid-June through summer. Excellent spring Crappie action. Walleye, muskie and northerns add to the action.
