Awesome night last night! Went 12 for 15 on burbot including this beauty that was one inch shy of a Michigan Master Angler! These are quickly becoming an addiction for me 😂

Cooked in sugar water, they taste like lobster ;)

Thank you so much for the advice! I was only 20' deep tonight. So no wonder I didn't get any bites. Wednesday I'll give it another go. :)

Thanks Stan! Burbot are actually really easy to catch. I've only ever targeted them out on Keweenaw Bay, but from mid to late February through March they come ...more up to 30-60 feet to spawn. Pretty much anywhere in those depths is productive. After dark provides the best action. I like to use a large rattling spoon tipped with a generous piece of smelt and pound the bottom with it. Glow in the dark lures are also effective. For line you can just use straight braid for the sensitivity or whatever you want, they aren't line shy at all.

Nice one! Would you mind sharing some insight on how to target these? I'm more of a Splake fisherman but I'd love to try my luck with these too. Heard they ...more are TASTY!

Haha!! He would probably try that. He gave up on the cold and is in SW Florida until April

Thanks Morris! No better time than the present! Right now they're getting ready to spawn. ive been getting them within a short walk from shore in 40 to 50 feet ...more of water. Just pound the bottom after dark with a heavy spoon and a piece of smelt and it's pretty much guaranteed success.

My buddy up there wants to catch one of those in the worst way! Nice work Jacob.
