On a road trip for work and spending night in Sacramento so I hit up the river and get a small bad on the crank and then a new species for me and fishing scout a Sacramento Pikeminnow. It was a surprise catch for me and weighed in at 1.75. I have no knowledge of these fish and can't find facts on how big they get.

Nice catch! The Sacramento pikeminnow is a true California native. They were the primary warm water predator before Largemouths and stripers were introduced.

They can exceed 1m and 30lbs. Common name used to be squawfish in my neck of the woods. Search on that name and you may have better luck finding info.

@MulletHead can you add the Sacramento pikeminnow to the species list if this in fact is a Sacramento pikeminnow.
