I hear whiting, mullet, crab and shad are all good, but which is the best for bull reds?

  You're golden. I'd buy / catch mullet and shrimp. Put mullet out, then depending how you do with mullet, try the whiting / croaker you catch with the shrimp.

  Whiting and mullet are the top producers but when you get live shad and cut it on the spot,you have some good bait.

  @bassinboy01 thanks. What I usually do is just buy some shrimp and catch whiting and croaker and put it on the hook. Is this technique good or should I just buy ...more some mullet?

  Whichever one they're eating. Lol varies day to day bro. Best bet is to use whatever is in the surf. I'd start with mullet
