Looking to get a new rod and reel but not spend tons of money will be manly bass fishing but I want it to be able to hold up against other bigger fish . If you have any suggestions help would be appreciated .

      Hate to say it but no freshwater reel can go saltwater with out getting it cleaned after. Also, how much do u have to work with? I can help u find a good one.

      Check out the new shimano curado I also look at shimanos convergence and Clarus rods both rod are around if not under a 100 bucks the reel is like 130 to 150 in ...more price and both are covered by shimanos

      Shimano citicas are great for fresh or salt and I'm sure you could find one sold as a combo or get a rod for it in your price range
