This is a white crappie I caught that looks much like a black while in spawn and can be differentiated by he 6 spines on the dorsal fin and the vertical bars @erod and @flybob

      Ya I actually caught him a few times this past spring cause he was on his bed forever and when I would be bass fishig he would hit it if I threw it within 4 feet ...more of his best super aggressive

      You're kinda of jackin his jaw there don't hold the fish horizontal like that because his body weight will break his jaw

      It's difficult to paint fish and maybe they where trying to match the spawn pattern but couldn't

      o yah the pattern is black on the other guys crappie but the fins match a white crappie

      Nice one can tell that is a white by the stripes and spikes but have you thought maybe the person that painted may have put the wrong pattern on it i think I counted ...more 5 spikes on that one
