So summer is here, and the surf is on fire on the gulf coast! Despite the mountains of Sargassum washing up daily, you've been hearing reports of everything from whiting to tiger shark being caught from shore and you just can't wait to get in on the action! A friend of yours tells you a school of tarpon have been hanging around one of the main piers. You know your dying to catch one! But how???

@MulletHead haha that is like the best answer ever!

Hmm, I'd use a live finger mullet under a popping cork and a spinning reel I didn't mind dunking. I catch a 2' lady fish and use camera tricks to morph ...more into a 4' tarpon!!!

The 10 or 12 times I have pier and surf fishing I would use a 8000 Shimano spinning reel with my custom surf rod, and braid with a heavy mono leader and a super ...more heavy hair jig that casts far.

Use my trusty avet and matching surf rod, heavy mono leader (100#), live mullet on a circle hook, send up a few prayers!
