Last time I used it it didn't matter. A majority if the time I use non painted jigs. I caught tons of sand trout night fishing at the tx city dike under lights
I usually rig it with either a 1/4 or 1/8 jig head and throw it with my tournament choice baitcast on a 6'6 fast tip Shakespeare rod with 12lb test @bassin5
