Fishing on the lake at night with my Vietnamese buddy Khoa. We managed 6 walleye 3 largemouth and 1 pickerel. This wallygator weighed just over 9 lbs. Khoa cut the tail off when he took the picture.

      We still loose lures too. Bigger fish do get a tooth in the braid now and then. I usually use a 30 lb top shot of 3 to 4 feet of mono.

      Braid is helpful with toothy fish for me too!!! Seems like I lose much less since I switched, lose far less $8 lures too!!

      I need braid because the lake I fish in is over loaded with weeds. The only way to land big fish and rip them out of the weeds. I still lose a lot from cheap hooks.

      what type lure you using that you need braid?
    9. I learned from you Tim. Once I set my sights on a certain species I am relentless until I figure them out. I had 65 lb braid and changed to 20 # braid to get a few ...more more feet casting distance and had a bigger thrash on the surface 5 times got a good look at it before it snapped the 20# like butter. My lure my Grandfather gave me 40 years ago disappeared in it's huge mouth I estimate it at least 12 lbs. plus. The next night Chris had one break 30lb braid.
