I was trolling for Hybrid Striped Bass and had caught a few from 3 to 5 lbs. Then I noticed some bigger fish just below the school. I slowed my speed to have my fly drop down to just above them and wham. I landed a 5 lb. 4 oz. Smallmouth bass that measured 21 1/2 inches. I had no live well or cooler with me because I was releasing all catches. I CPR the smally and passed over the same spot again and hooked up on this 8 lb. 9 oz. Largemouth that measured in at 24 1/2 inches with a 19 inch girth. A new Knee Deep Club and Lake record. The smallmouth I had released earlier was also a new record. I did not know this until I weighed the Largemouth in at Dow's Bait and Boat.
