1. I need advice... I am getting ready to re-deck my fishing boat. Does anyone have advice on the best approach to keep the wood from rotting? My plan thus far is ...more to use marine grade plywood and either seal it with paint or fiberglass. What do you guys think..?

Marine grade plywood is your best for long time use. It is costly but will be there for a long time. CDX does not hold up in weather and will fall apart in a couple ...more of years. I don't remember what they called it but there use to be what I called a waffer board that was slivers of wood and a lot of glue, blood glue I think they called it. I built a chicken house with it years ago never did paint it. When we moved years later we tore it down and reused it. I can't seem to find it nowadays. I need to find something for my live well. The top is coming apart due to the CDX board. I though they used to sell a treated plywood. Still looking.

I've had pretty good luck with regular CDX plywood with a generous coating of zinsser 123 primer. It really exceeded my expectations. I did it six years ago. ...more Decided to get rid of my casting deck and get a different color carpet. The plywood hasn't swelled up or delaminated at all. I specially made sure to get the cut sides coated really well. It inexpensive, may not last 20 years but for me it's worked well enough.

protect the boat from the e weather as best as possible. if you fish in the rain, make sure everything is dry before covering. my boat is a 1990 model. it has had ...more the floor redone some time ago before i bought it. i keep it in the garage, haven't had any problems with the floor rotting.
