I love to fish for anything that has gills. I have had a bad year. Lost my job, which caused me to give up my house, and pickup that pulled my 20 foot foot and had ...more to give up my pickup. Even with all that, I have left a Saturn car with 183,000 miles on it. I decided to put a hitch on it which I found at a garage sale, and traded some physical work to inquire a 12 foot 1985 boat a guy was giving up. With my yard sale hoping and flea market trolling, I managed to get it set up enough to at least be able to call myself a fisherman once again. Because of my big heart, i take out people (strangers mostly) and donate my time, fuel and what used gear i have. I figure this is a good deed, for those even worse off than myself.
Well, the last trip i went on, i took out a so called friend/stranger (acquaintance) that always wanted to learn to fish. I was lucky enough to hook on to a coho. He went to attempt to net it, and dropped the whole net into the water and it was gone. Then as he was moving my pole i let him use, he dropped that into the water and it was gone. So, here I am trying to pull in a fish with out a net and my mind was on the net and pole that he dropped that was now at the bottom of the river. I ended up losing the fish...... BUT, then out of the kindness of my heart, i let him use another back up pole I had and then he had a strike and got so excited, he jerked it so hard the pole came out of his hands and again, lost another pole setup. Worst day of my fishing life, and because of this person, I lost two complete pole set ups, a net , and two fish. Now to most that seems like not the end of world, but when you have already lost your house, job, truck, boat and had to garage sale hop to continue on with fishing, i was in tears. Oh, he also never offered a dime for fuel, or gear he lost. He was a dentist making 125,000 a year. Life is sure strange at times.
What now? well, i guess I start over and continue on with my passion. Back to garage sale hoping.
