It was a beautiful afternoon fishing with my wife Andrea and our two dogs, Honey and Roxy. The sun was shining on a warm fall day when I desired to try a different ...more spot as nothing was biting where we were. Upon arriving at our new location , I dropped a bottom bouncer with a crawler harness attached on both poles. As we started to drift, I got a pleasent surprise as my fishing pole dove towards the water. As I grbed my pole I knew I had a nice fish as it started to take out line. I asked my wife to grab the net and to my dismay I had forgot to put the net in the boat. As I got the fish up to the boat my wife thought she could scoop the fish with a bucket that was on board. Well as you may already know, that was the last I seen of that fish. a 20 plus inch Walleye. After a little more drifting and no more hits we made another pass. In about 2 minutes in , I got another hit. As I started to bring the fish in my other pole got a hit. Wow a double! As I pulled the first one on board I quickly grapes the other pole and managed to land that one also. Great, two fish I dropped in my wire basked and threw over board to keep them fresh. After drifting for a while I said it's time to make another pas. So I drove back to our starting point and remembered I had forgot to put the wire basket in the boat and lost my two fish and my wire basket. At that point, even though I was upset, I said this will make a nice fish story some day and started to laugh. Well it was about three P.M. and all I wanted to do was catch one more fish. We started drifting and again I got a hit. Landed that keeper and put it in the cooler. About five minutes later I got and landed another one. Now I had two and was happy to have the two back that I hd lost. After re baiting the hook and dropping it over the side, another hit. This was another nice one, and I'm wondering if I'll be able to get this one in the boat. Well Andrea, i said, if I land this one, we will be on our way home. Yes, I landed it. Not as big as the first one I lost but almost twenty inches. What a day we had! What a story this is going to be! And a memory of a beautiful fall day on the lake with my wife and two dogs.
