1. The major tributaries feeding the lake are holding good numbers of fish right now as the shad are moving up the backwater areas. Shallow vegetation and woody cover ...more seem to be pattern. Try flukes, walking baits and buzzbaits early, with spinnerbaits and shallow crankbaits getting the nod during the day. Creeks like James, Kincaid, and the Lux are popular. The catfish bite continues to be good for both rod-n-reel and jugs. Most anglers are fishing the channel at the mouths of the old river runs and also fishing in the river runs. Best baits have been liver and cutbait/whole shad. The crappie reports continue to get better as the water cools. Camp Pratt and Swedenburgs are popular areas. Anglers are fishing 4 to 8 ft of water and targeting the ends of laydowns or wood on deep banks. Try both jigs and minnows to see which the fish prefer.
