The bass reports are fair but are picking up with the arrival of fall. Good numbers of 10 to 14 inch bass are being caught but quality bites are a bit tougher to ...more come by. Most action has been on points and flats on the navigation channel. Best depths have ranged from 1 to 5 ft. Texas-rigged and Carolina-rigged plastics are good bait choices, with buzzbaits and frogs getting the nod for the early and late topwater bite. The catfish bite is fair to good along the navigation channel and the mouths of the old river runs. Cutbait/whole shad and liver have been best baits. Crappie anglers are starting to show up in Camp Pratt, James Creek and in Big Coalfire. Most are targeting the deeper banks that have wood and grass. Both crappie jigs and minnows are catching fish but may choose one over the other on any given day.
