The bass reports continue to be slow to fair due to the heat. Some anglers are hitting points and laydowns along the channel with crankbaits and jigs. Others are ...more targeting the backwater areas like Camp Pratt and the Coalfire area with topwaters, soft plastics and jigs. Some crappie action is being reported around the Nashville Ferry area, particularly in James Creek. Anglers are either trolling or pulling jigs around some of the deeper bends or vertical jigging with either minnows and jigs around the laydowns. The catfish bite is fair along the navigation channel and the mouths of the old river runs. Cutbait, kool-aid flavored chicken and liver have been popular choices. Any current should help the bite.
