(1 of 3) - WATER TEMPERATURE- 48 degrees. SURFACE ELEVATION- 2121.76'----22.24 ft. below conservation. Crappies can still be caught vertically fishing jigs ...more and slab spoons over the fish attractors, but the fish have begun to scatter and transition into occupying shallow water for spawning. Fish can be tough to find during this transition period, but look for fish to stage over shallower drop-offs and points in coves. With a return of warmer weather it won't be long before fish start showing up in the shallows toward the western end of the reservoir. The Bluffs and Cove 4 are usually good areas to find crappie spawning early. Walleye - Spawning activity really began to slow down after this cool spell began about three weeks ago. There may still be some fish spawning along the dam, but overall the numbers should be pretty minimal by now.
