  9. I just picked up some fly line backing and a knot tying tool. I'm from GA and new to fly fishing, can anyone direct me to a website that teaches about fly fishing?

    1. chuckb 0
      OK I appreciate the knowledge guys I'll begin tying and setting up the reel tomorrow
    2. luke s 0
      @chuckb ^^^^^^
    3. King_Fisher 0
      Lots of fly shops offer classes and there are several how to videos on line buts it's best to find someone to teach you.
    4. luke s 0
      About an hour... The only reason I had that rod with me is because the day fore I was pike fishing and I left that rod in the boat... But I would suggest 4-8 Fluor ...more but if top water 4-8 lb mono
    5. luke s 0
      Then I would suggest line from 4-8 some where around that... One day I use my 9wt rod for bluegills because I forgot my 5wt and I had a 20 flour leader on it and ...more I ended up with about 20 gills in...
    6. chuckb 0
      @King_Fisher I'm noticing fly fishing is not as mainstream as bass fishing so gathering knowledge is difficult, plus learning to cast on your own is hard
    7. chuckb 0
      @walleyebasshunter I'm targeting bluegill, crappie, and smaller largemouth. We don't have trout around here.
    8. King_Fisher 0
      My dad taught me but I also learned a bunch from youtube I would find a friend or a local fly fishing school or guide to teach you.
    9. luke s 0
      Might break about 12-20 ( it depends who made it) but give that a try.... For the leader lb test what kinds of fish are you fishing for?? @chuckb
    10. luke s 0
      @chuckb it would depend on if you have the money to buy new line... I would say if anything grab the fly line and yank it like you where tithing a knot and see if ...more you could break if... I think it...
    11. chuckb 0
      @walleyebasshunter
    12. chuckb 0
      I got a Shakespeare fly series kit from Walmart its a 5/6 wt the fly line is old should I get some new fly line?
    13. chuckb 0
      OK what pound test?
    14. luke s 0
      More expensive then it needs to be. @chuckb ^^^
    15. luke s 0
      I buy the small spools (110 yards) of Berkley vanish and it's around 5.99 $ for one spool what if you change flies a lot and you use the leaders that they ( ...more fly fishing company's ) say it will get...
    16. luke s 0
      But one thing I'm going to say now is that you don't need to buy the leader that is "meant" for fly fishing... If your use anything but top water ...more / dry flies I would suggest to use Fluorocarbon
    17. luke s 0
      I'm not sure about a web site because I learned what I know from people I've talk to and being on the water... If you have any questions I will try my best ...more to answer them ( I'm not and expert)
