About

I was born in Bronx, NY in 1980 was raised in Yonkers, NY since the age of 4 till I was about 13 years of age. Traveling from NY and my family’s ...more home town in Salinas P.R every summer I moved in the year 1993 with my grandmother. Where then I took up all kinds of different sports Baseball, Martial Arts, Volley Ball, Track and Field, but the most I have ever learned to love at a young age was Olympic Weightlifting. In the years of 1995 and 1996 I was crowned the Puerto Rican National Champion and witch as well almost led me to compete in the 96’ Atlanta Games. In December 1999 I came to live in Orlando where I met my wife. After 5 years in 2006 we had our first child Tomas Gomez Jr. and 11 months after that we had our second child Nikolas A. Gomez. I was introduced to fishing in 2007 by 3 co-workers that I will never forget Brad, Fernando and Adrian. My first experience was offshore salt water fishing in Melbourne, FL. It was an ok but a couple of months after I was introduced to Fresh Water in a small pound behind where we worked and I WAS HOOKED! The fight of the Large Mouth Bass was nothing that I thought it would be. I was so hooked I had made a bet that I was going to look into fishing tournaments. My friends thought I was crazy they said it was too much money and that they are so many people I would not even place in the Top 100. I said bet! I looked into the next tournament available for B.A.S.S and it was a Northern Open in Lake Champlain Plattsburgh, NY it was in July 2010 where I placed 76th with a weight of 13.8 I was not only grateful for the opportunity but as well I had done what they said was not possible. I met great people and had a blast. I then looked into other tournaments in B.A.S.S in the Southern Opens where I was proud to say I made it in the Top 50 Co-Anglers now I was motivated to continue. In my other tournaments of the Southern Opens for B.A.S.S I was still meeting great Pro’s and Co-Anglers from all over the US. I as well had a great opportunity to fish in local tournaments after I was contacted by a great group of Anglers that fished the Fishing4Reel Tour. I had the greatest respect for these guys they would go to the unprivileged Boys and Girls Clubs across the U.S and not only speak to the kids about conservation and many other topics but as well invite them to their tournaments and bring out a huge grill cook for the kids take them out on their boats plus much more. We should all try to check out what these guys do you can check them out at fishing4reeloutdoors.com they truly where a blessing to my knowledge and understanding of what fishing was. Now trying to get back to tournaments and trying to make a name for myself in this diverse sport I will be fishing the A.B.A Tournaments for the 2014 year to get another aspect and to meet the weekend Angler as they call it. Hope that this is as well a great experience and that I have the pleasure to meet great Pro and Co-Anglers in this journey. So let’s get into fishing and FISH ON!
