  Totally agree with you Jack. I live right down the street from Oak Grove so I fish it often. Except for the summer months when it's almost impossible to catch ...more a fish from the shore. I did catch my biggest large mouth bass here @ 6 lbs 10 ounces in the late spring this year (2015). I caught that monster in the shallows of that little cove at the west side of the lake on a white and red buzz bait.

  Oak Grove is awesome. Lot's of bass, but not easy to catch from the bank. No kayaks or canoes or any boats allowed. I've had some luck with senkos and drop ...more shot in Apr & May. Get's tough after June. If you look the lake up on the Va Game & Fish website, it is stocked and managed by the state and ranks number 5 in bass over 5 lbs per acre. I believe it too, I broke off a 7-8 lber on the bank a couple of years ago.
