About Tilapia

Similar in body shape to bluegill, with a moderately deep and compressed body. Two-part lateral line with front portion higher on body than rear portion. Long, unbroken dorsal fin, the anterior of which is spiny. It is distinguished from the bluegill by the absence of a dark blue or black opercular flap. Adult size: 4 to 18 inches.
