20"Oconto Bronzeback hanging out under the shadiest tree in the area, pounced on the swimbait as soon as it hit the floor. Found this smallie way upriver in ...more the middle of nowhere.

Do you know if there are any trout in this part of the river?
    2. Smalljaw 0
Cool. Thanks. Usually throw 2.75-3.25 in my local flow. Just got in some 5s for an October trip.
    3. Paul Lukas 0
I'll get 12-13" smallies gulping the 5" down no problem@Smalljaw
    4. Paul Lukas 0
@Smalljaw yes...4.5-5"always on first, all year long. I'll scale down when needed but larger baits call the big ones out very well.
    5. Smalljaw 0
You always throw a 5" swim or are you up sizing now that this year's hatch has matured?
    6. Paul Lukas 0
@CJS21 almost drove back home it was soooo dirty😝made things tough to sight fish for sure.

Overhanging trees providing shade w/laydowns tight to the bank still producing the better smallies. Swimbait, fluke&craw taking care of business. 3lb13oz-19-3/4" Air83 Water77

    1. Paul Lukas 0
      @TaylorG @jimmy567 @bassprofessional Thank You!
    2. Paul Lukas 0
The fluke is an excellent wood/laydown bait. Some days that slow fall after a few twitches is what they want.
    3. Paul Lukas 0
Big smallies hanging out in the wood cannot handle the swimbait near them. They charge immediately.
    4. Paul Lukas 0
I'll make hundreds of short, quick casts/flips in a few mile float.
    5. Paul Lukas 0
1/4 casting upstream or straight to the bank/laydowns.
    6. Paul Lukas 0
I sight fish, standing up while floating w/current about 15-20' from bank.
    7. Paul Lukas 0
@Smalljaw Thnx!Sparkly colored 4-5"paddle tail swimbaits on a 3/16oz spot remover is my go-to for sure
    8. Paul Lukas 0
@LCraig I'll work the swimbait just like a spinnerbait/swimjig. Medium to fast retrieves been working lately.
    9. bassprofessional 0
      Beautiful colors
