Lafayette City Park Fishing Reports

Recently shared catches and fishing spots

  1. Details: White Bass

Ok I'm gonna add to the list of species that should not exist in this pond: Whitebass, Goldfish, Rainbow Trout, Nile Tilapia, and 4lb Smallmouth bass. This pond ...more is like South Florida, full of every species imaginable for some reason. I was fishing for trout and caught a freaking goldfish, like what? A goldfish got flushed out and grew up in this puddle and bit my roostertail. Next species: Arapima

  2. Details: Golden Rainbow Trout

Beautiful February day. 65° but windy, and a front moving in. Fish were stocked back on the 26th, but were active still in good numbers. Fish were chasing shad ...more so a little roostertail or tube tore them up. Caught our limit in an hour. Water was deep and blue. Some dude caught a 6 1/2lb bass on corn so idk how that happened

  3. Details: Blue Tilapia

I also found 3 dead tilapia. Tilapia are very invasive and can takeover and ecosystem. There a few small populations in TN but, luke this one, they can't survive ...more the cold. That's why the Gallatin Steam Plant population, survives year after year. Hopefully the cold will kill more of these buggers out of the pond

Use as live it's illegal but idk about dead @CJS21
  4. Details: Golden Rainbow Trout

It was a grind to catch our limit at Lafayette city lake. 32°-47° through the day with wind made it really chilly, but still lots of people competed against ...more us. Fish were really pressured and almost just struck from anger. Let it sink on top of their heads then slow roll it back. They would bite when you bumped it into them. Lots of dead bass, crappie, catfish, tilapia, and shad from the cold

  5. Details: Largemouth Bass

Found this big bass dried and crispy on the bank. It's a shame someone thought he was a trash fish

    1. He might make it.

  7. Details: Golden Rainbow Trout

Only a few from a slow, cold day. Pond finally got stocked, so I went up there with a friend on this chilly December day. Once we got a little elevation the air ...more temp dropped to 18°, and just about everything was frozen including the pond. There was a spot about 25yds long we could fish. Caught 8 fish in about 400 casts in this slit. The rod eyes and our hands were freezing so we left.

  8. Details: Channel Catfish

My phone got water logged so this is the only pic that wasn't completely blurred over. Me and a friend tried a cow pond in Macon Co. It was raining the entire ...more time but that really didn't affect the fishing too much. Caught around 25 channel cats from the 2-4lb range. My friend was mainly fly fishing while I used UL and heavier gear. Got a lot of good Go Pro footage too
