  1. Catch-up post #2… These are the smallies that I caught in practice on the Susky, prior to the Kayak Anglers team championship. All four were 18+ inches and over ...more 3 lbs. The biggest was 18 3/4” (3 lbs 3 oz), the heaviest was 3 lbs 7 oz (18 1/2”). These were the biggest four of 11 bass.

  2. Our team had a tough day, finishing 4th out of 5 teams at the Kayak Anglers - Angler of the Year team championship. The weather was rough. I experienced the most ...more severe torrential rain and wind that I have fished in (and I fish a lot in Erie in the spring). I had a very good day, catching several scoreable fish. My best two were 18 1/2 and 17 1/2 inches (our team total was the two best fish of the five anglers on our team). My 36-inch total was good enough for 3rd among individual competitors. The smallie above was the largest of 17 bass. Susky smallmouths are built differently. They fight like fish twice their size. That is a wrap on my first year fishing tournaments.

  3. Good day of practice for a tournament on the mighty Susquehanna River. I did flip my kayak on an unexpected rock in 3 ft of water. I was able to get the kayak right-side-up ...more quickly and was back fishing shortly after. Biggest of 15.

2 lb. 10 oz. 17 in. Smallmouth Bass with a tubz

They say there are rocks the size of VWs in the Susky. I believe it!
    2. Jim Holland 0
Sorry to hear of the flip, but glad you are okay, and had a good bag of fish.
    3. Rick S 0

Mark, my head was on a swivel, but the water was the color of chocolate milk, and there was no surface ripples. You can’t react to what you can’t see.
    5. Mark Merlin 0
Very nice Frank, keep your head on a swivel bud.
