McCauley Pond truly is a hidden gem in the Adirondacks and worth the effort it takes to get back into it. Its mostly private around it but you can access via the ...more railroad tracks on the south side of the lake. It probably a half mile walk down the tracks and the lake is right close on your left hand side. I highly suggest dragging a canoe or kayak with you because the good bass fishing is on the north and east side and that all in fish able from shore lake that is all private land. Tons of beautiful largemouth in the 3 to 5 pound range I limited out slobs probably 20 times this summer and released all the fish so you could have a chance at catching them as well. Also plenty of northers, smallmouth, and perch in there but nothing overly impressive. Definitely worth the walk back in there during early to mid summer when the largemouth are super aggressive and will strike any top water you throw at them. Good luck. Also the date on this will be wrong but I fished it June through September but I suggest late June early July If really want to see some to water action.
