Point A Reservoir typically has a tannic brown water color and fairly low productivity. The lake is mainly fished by local anglers for bass, bream, crappie, and catfish.
As part of Fort Rucker, special permits from the Fort Rucker Outdoor Recreation Center are needed. Three boat launches and four fishing piers service the lake.
Fishery-– Largemouth bass, redear sunfish, bluegill and crappie are the most common sportfish species. The lake is noted primarily for its redear sunfish (Shellcracker) fishery.
