1. Planning a walleye trip to Bull Shoals. Have never fished there but am taking my fishing buddy along and this is where he wanted to try. Anyone have a general ...more area on the lake where we might get started? Be down there at end of April.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

I live on the lake and fish eyes almost exclusively. April can be difficult day time bite at times but if you fish a suspending jerkbait at or around dark mornings ...more or evenings you will catch some good fish. Stick with natural color the Ricky Clunn style bait work well . Rouges, rapala all good. 8 to 10 lb florocarbon is what I throw them on.Right before dark or right after daylight you can pitch shad raps or paddle tails ,flukes and pick up some. Find long tapering points. Try to locate four or five points close together . I mean like a 5 minute ride from each other. Then Drive them in the daylight to see what you will be casting into. Then fish one .If you pick up a fish or two move to the next spot. Dont camp out on one spot. Absolute biggest mistake you can make on the bull. So catch a fish or 2 then move to the next one catch a fish or and move . Just keep an eye on all your points (this is the reason I keep them close together)and if you see someone else on another just move to one of the other you scope out and so on and so on If it's a tough bite for eyes after daylight switch to smallmouth . We have some fantastic smallmouth fishing. More of quantity then size but you get alot in 1 to 3 lbs.

The best advice I can give, when I was there everyone, and I do mean everyone, was friendly so ask around and they should put you on fish: local guides, fisherman ...more you meet at the dock, they should tell you what patterns are working and generally what to look for.
