1. Just when things started to pop last weekend...
Blowing 20 knots out of the east today. High in the 50's. Better weather is coming...
Numerous reports of ...more small striped bass on the beach over the weekend. Only 15" or so but better than nothing and a good sign.
Reports came in for the Cape all the way south to 3R's Road in the DSSP. Fresh cut bunker and live whole bloodworms were the best baits.
A few stripers were reported from the Inlet as well. Water temp is hovering around 48 degrees but jumps in to the 50's on outgoing water on sunny days. That is the time to fish bucktails.
They are picking up a few flounder in the Indian river bay. The VFW slough is your best bet. Live minnows and Gulp are the best baits.
The Coast Guard has marked all of the channels in the Indian River and Rehoboth Bays for the coming season.
There have been some reports of nice flounder in the Lewes Canal up by Roosevelt Inlet as well.
New flounder regulations take effect May 11. The minimum size will be 16" with a four fish a day limit. Until then the minimum size is 17".
Tautog season will be closed from Mat 11 through July 17
The Old Inlet Annual Spring Surf Fishing Tournament will be held on Saturday May 10!! Registration information is available on this website or in the store.
