Planning a few days fishing on Wateree out of the State Park beginning April 10th. Anyone have any pointers or suggestions on the Crappie fishing, this is my first ...more time fishing this lake.

  I fish at wateree lake quite often but mostly for Blue Cat... Haven't heard of many folks catching anything lately.. Been twice so far and not even a bite...Water ...more is about 58 degrees and very muddy as they recently drain the lake. Thinking it would be about anotther 3 to 4 weeks before the water settles and the fish start bitting. Get you some Shad bait and cut it up, just bought some for myself and a buddy from a local store called Colonel's Creek Market right on the lake, next to a launching dock and a couple of restaurants, gas station. They told me that cut up shad is what everyone uses for cat, crappie and stripers. Their number is (803) 337-2100 and their address is 14143 River Road Ridgeway, SC 29130. Good luck... FISH ON!
