Mike Honcho 0There are so many stories running around about these carp. Either way they have destroyed Shaeron Harris in the past 2 years for being the bass habitat it use to ...more be. I could catch 5 bass on any given day, all ranging from 3-5lbs. Now I am lucky to catch a 3-5lb bass at all. It’s sad thet duke and NCW has let this go, and their answer has been setting up fish habitats in lieu of killing all the hydrila. They also said these carp are sterile, however I’ve seen them rummaging through the weeds during their spawn. They also live in excess of 20+ years so it will be a while, if ever, when Shaeron Harris returns to the way it was.

Kaitlin Lospinoso 1Mike, these guys are no good! Duke Energy stocked 10,000 of them in this tiny reservoir with the sole purpose of removing hydrilla that was supposedly clogging their ...more intake, but now they’ve removed every shred of native aquatic vegetation as well. Without the aquatic plants to filter sediment from runoff at the shorelines, water quality has taken a nosedive. Those weed beds also provided incredible cover for bass, shad, and other native fish. The shallow water fishery used to be second-to-none on Shearon Harris, now it’s a thing of the past.
