There's one lake in VA Beach that had been stocked with walleye and flatheads that me and a buddy tried to hit up last night. We tried trolling cranks and swimbaits for walleye without luck. Then we tried flathead fishing with Shad I caught below the spillway but of course I just catch two more eels instead. What's with all the eels?? The bigger one was the biggest I have ever seen at 28" long.

Gut them, rinse slime off with a sand scrub, brine for 24 hours, then smoke them, make sushi

I'm sure, but we only get them thick in the winter @FinFinatic

@FinFinatic I was thinking the same thing. Would have kept them if I didn't have to work all week

@TennesseeTroutboy I really wish that were true. I still have a lot left to get better at, especially for saltwater fishing

@Drew72 they are amazing creatures for sure, I'd just prefer not to have any on my line unless i want bait for saltwater

It's amazing how much slime those boogers produce!

I agree, but the slime is the worse, doesn't come off very easily at all @Drew72

Eel wrestling would be an entertaining addition to s rodeo

😂 gotcha. They annoy me as well, twisting gear up and being all slippery.

It was. But they are such a pain to handle and destroy rigs. I'd rather not be the eel whisperer to be honest

Seaturtles the eel whisperer! That thing is huge.
