It's the same concept as the Rope you get your piece of bait put cotton balls on it and wrap your like around it their teeth get stuck

      What does it do? @Ohiocatfisherman

Just type in rope lure and you should find some decent vids. Today they would try and smack my spinnerbait but wouldn't even come close to being hooked

After seening all these gar today I'm about to start making some haha

You can catch a gar every hit by doing just one thing....make some rope lures! When the gar hit their teeth become stuck in the stringiness. Check out youtube for ...more some tutorials @thenewiambatman26

Let them set the hook... If the really want it they'll attack it.. Just my advice

Use trebles or two j hooks taped together

How about size 5 circle hooks? @bumaruski
    18. bumaruski 0
Two choices. Go big and sharp. Set hard to bury in bone. Or go smaller and give them time to swallow. Both work, sometimes.

Very helpful! Thanks guys! What hook size?
    21. bumaruski 0
I have waited as long as five minutes before setting the hook. Their mouths are extremely bony. Best case is you will hook about 1 in 5. Just part of the game.

Don't set the hook on them immediately you have to give them time to get the bait in the mouth after waiting a few seconds set the hook
