@SwampMafia more strength by creating distance between the fish and your line and also re-enforcement.

@SwampMafia you can you it for the fish also you attach multiple hook to steel leader and it won't get tangle also like if your line is a 30 lb line you can ...more attach a 80 lb steel leader to it to give

Ok, I was thinking you used it for the fish, but your using it for rocks and other debris.

      To your line @SwampMafia

@SwampMafia and if you think about it catfish live in very rocky environment there the rock can be abrasive to to line and damage you line so I would add 3 to 5 ...more feet of steel leader to prevent damage.

@SwampMafia and the weakest part of a line is the end of the line so it is re enforcement to the end of the line to use steel leaders. And steel leader is quite ...more cheap so you can just change it out.

@SwampMafia oh sorry I didn't answer it correctly. The benefit to using steel leader is because steel leader can take a lot of abuse and damage from rubbing ...more against rocks and abrasive objects.

You can use eagle hook steel leaders, but I like to make my own so I buy Berkley spool of steel leaders.
