Needle nose gar caught near our camp site on the red river. Cut shad on a circle hook did the trick.

  I love the Red River, you never really know what you'll catch. Paddlefish, gar, smallies, whites, sturgeon, cats. It's a great fishery.

  Average one is probably like 2-2.5 feet. But they get to like 5 feet. Alligator gar get much bigger. My next goal is to catch a monster gator gar from the kayak!

  We don't got hat around here, what is average size for them?? And that one there I know is a great fish!!! Congrats!!
