I did also notice some "bait balls", minnows swirling in large numbers causing surface disturbance with some jumping out of the water. I cast a spinner bait past these "bait balls" and caught 15 bass on 15 casts at one point reeling through them.
This lasted for a short time, then back to trolling and that is when I found the creek channel. 6 hours later, I had to go home, I had the cooler full of fish. Channel cats (8), up to 26", 14 crappie 10-14" and 5 fat 12-13" bass. I did catch some "slot limit" fish that I had to put back, including a super fat 19 3/4" bass. Shame to have to put them back, but that's the rules.
Had to leave early so I had time to clean them when I got home. The 2 hour drive to get there is becoming less of an issue now.
This was my 5th trip there, and all combined, I have caught somewhere near 300 fish! I guess I'll continue to go there.
Next trip will be more experimenting, different techniques, etc.
I really like this lake, even thought they let water out and it is now about 4' lower than it was a week ago.
7 channel cats, none above minimum, and 37 bass! No big bass either, most ran 10"-13", but kept me busy. Next trip will try some different techniques/methods to see if I can find some big ones.
Fished 10 hrs, caught 44 fish, 4.4 fish per hour, or one about every 15 minutes. If I didn't include the finger that I didn't do Monday, took me 2 hrs to cover it and only caught one bass, fish per hour is much better.
I like this place, but will have to limit my time there due to travel time and gas cost. If I eliminate my local electric only lakes, I would feel comfortable going twice a week. Weekdays only of course.

Ran boat to adjust ...more trim, and then checked speed with my hand held gps. Had it laying on the tackle box, and wide open the speed reading was 19.8 mph.
Trolled right side of lake as standing on ramp looking out to lake. Went down to standing timber and started up other side. Went into first cove to the standing timber there. I wanted to try the timber but I also wanted to circle the lake , didn't make a complete circle, as I wanted to try a different route home. I left at 7pm, would have liked to stay longer but didn't want to drive the whole route home in the dark.
I was trolling 8-12 ft with different lures using 2 rods. I did some casting once I landed a fish. Nothing real exciting, but I did catch 5 channel cats, a 17" and a 19" that went home. I also caught 13 bass. I kept 2 really fat 13" fish. Can't believe I caught a 4" bass on a 3" crank bait! I also caught 2 bluegills, duh.
I can't wait to go back. I like the underwater structure that shows all through out the lake. I never made it under the bridge, or along the riprap on the left side of the boat ramp(time).
Next trip I will have more time, leave lots earlier and maybe stay later. When I learn the lake I'm sure I can land some really good fish. Have to watch the weather for the end of the week. might go again real soon. I don't fish the weekends to avoid lake traffic, but I have been known to make exceptions for the weather.

All in all, a good day.
Tomorrow I'm going to Sandy River. Not real early as this will be my new rigs maiden voyage, and not having ever been there before, I want to drive both ways in good daylight. I will fish hard once there, and will test out the motor. I will have my portable gps to get speed readings for both the outboard and the electric.
Will be an interesting, and hopefully, productive day.
Will extend my trailer tounge tomorrow, put on numbers, mount seats, etc., and get ready for next week. Looking forward to lots more room.
Heard Moomaw was really good right now, walleyes were hitting well, but deep.
Guess I'll just have to use what I have for now.
This is why I'm looking at other possibilities. I also like to eat fish, and my doctor encourages me to do so, so I like to bring some home as well. To me walleye are the best, but bass, crappie, channel cats and good size blue gill work too.
What is your opinion of Carvins Cove? Have researched it, but I really hate to pay launch fees!
You are a pleasure to chat with maybe talk on phone some time. Here is my email addy so we don't have to be public on here. vaguru1@yahoo.com, later
Last trip to Robertson, water was somewhat dirty, only managed 3 channel cats on crank baits. DGIF says they're there, but no one I talked too has caught any large bass. Where do you call home?
