19" Smallmouth taken on 8" livelined brown trout and a simple Carolina rig 2/0 Mustad circle hook to 18" shock leader of 14 lb test attached to 30 lb spiderwire on a Quantum Octane baitcaster. The fish hit solidly with a committed bite that telegraphed through the spiderwire with remarkable sensitivity. It immediately took off to deeper waters and put up a committed fight. I had to let it run out thirty of feet of line twice before landing it. Beautiful fish and a great catch.
