  Hey Frank....yes lake Elwell is loaded with carp...they are very active in the springtime mudding for bugs. I think you would be very successful catching them on ...more a fly. there are also small mouth buffalo that come up the marias river to spawn at the dam below lake Elwell. Lake Elwell is very fishable. I take my 4 wheeler down and drive the shore line until I find pods of carp and can usually find big groups every day.

  those are a couple of good fish pics. My name is Frank and I'm from Alberta but come to MT a couple of times annually to fish. I have fished ...more the Mo for the last 25 years, but have recently started to fly fish for carp and the one above is certainly a good one. As you know, there isn't a lot of information about where to fish for carp, other than Canyon Ferry. Is there anything you would be willing to tell me about Elwell....ie: if there are enough carp worth targeting in the spring, areas that one could fish ( I'm guessing
  there isn't an over fishing issue) . If there is any other info you would be willing to tell me, I would appreciate it. We also fish for pike in the spring and thoroughly enjoy that too.
