I've been fortunate to have fished all over the country. Okeechobee, Falcon, Fork, Kentucky Lake, Norman, Minnetonka, Leech, Table Rock, Stockon, Allatoona, and all over Minnesota. But my favorite lake will always be in Minnesota. Now really I'm not that good of a fisherman and I really struggle to find fish but I do love the sport. Two summers ago, I had a terrible finish in our club tournament. Fished hard for three days, and caught two fish. I was really bummed. A good friend whispered in my ear to go fish lake X. He gave me no tips on where to go or what to use, but he winked and made me promise to keep the secret. A small lake about 2 hours from the twin cities. I stopped there on my way home from the tournament and caught a limit of good keepers in about two hours. I went back the following weekend and repeated the event with my nephew from N.C. who had never caught a 4lber! This, of course made me his hero. Finally the third weekend, I went back again and caught and released fish after fish for nearly 90 minutes. Top water in the pads....it just doesn't get any better than that. I lost count after 20 but My best 8 fish weighed 30.93lbs! It was a great day! The best part was that I found them, figured out how to catch them on my own very quickly and released them to be there another day....ya gotta love catch and release!
