About Schoolmaster Snapper

Schoolmaster grouper are olive gray on upper sides with yellow tinge, sometimes with reddish tinge around head. The coloration is paler on the underside, and fins are yellow to orange-yellow in color. Smaller grouper have 8 pale vertical bars on the side of the body that fade with age. They have a long triangular snout, no dark lateral spot, and a blue stripe below eye, becoming interrupted in adults.
