About Gafftopsail Catfish

This fish is silvery-gray to bluish above, and white to silvery below. No scales are found on the skin. Two barbels are located under the chin, and two more very long barbels begin at the corners of the mouth. These long barbels are flattened, band like, and sometimes reach the anal fin. Dorsal and pectoral fins have long, fleshy filaments on the spines.
